I blame the rain,
If it hadn’t rained I could have come to work early,
And completed my work on time,
Then I could have left work early to catch the evening train,
And avoid being drenched in the heavy rain,
I blame my boss,
If she hadn’t given me too much work,
I would have had time,
Enough time to call my friends,
And reschedule the weekend barbecue,
Then I could have had time,
Enough time to pen a line,
I blame my finger,
If it hadn’t pointed in all directions,
I couldn’t be busy looking for a scapegoat for my laziness,
Then I could have done what I was meant to do
And blamed nothing.
